Inspiration: New Years Eve Look Ideas! (2 looks)

I was just messing around this morning to try and come up with some NYE looks.  My boyfriend (haven't seen him since Thanksgiving) is coming into town (didn't know that til last night! lol) so I now have a date!  :) And a reason to look nice!  There are a lot of pics because I actually did this in the day and could take pictures outside!  But I also wanted to post ones the same way I regularly take them so yall can see that too.

This first look is inspired by a look I saw TiffanyD do the other night.  It's a navy blue smokey eye.  I'd probably make it a little more dramatic for NYE, but I was doing the light version she was.  :)

Main colors I used:

  • MAC pigment in Naval Blue
  • Urban Decay e/s in Gunmetal
  • Urban Decay 24/7 e/l in Zero
  • NYX jumbo eye pencil in Cottage Cheese
  • Tarte Jewelry Box Shades -
    - Shimmery navy blue
    - Shimmery champagne color

On the cheeks, I used Smashbox Blush/Soft Lights in Super/Model.

On the lips, I used Yves Saint Laurent ROUGE VOLUPTÉ in No. 7 Lingerie Pink.

 Next look!

Here's a video so you can see the sparkle.  It didn't translate well in these pictures.

Main colors I used:

  • MAC e/s in Gorgeous
  • Urban Decay 27/7 e/l in Zero
  • NYX e/s in White
  • Tarte Jewelry Box Shades -
    - Matte dark purple
    - Matte lavender
    - Matte pinky-beige
  • Smashbox e/l in Hope (shimmery purple from Christmas 2009)

On the cheeks, I used MAC cream blush in Posey.

On the lips, I used MAC l/s in  Hue and NYX lip gloss in Whipped.

    Celebrity Inspired: Adriana Lima

Here's my attempt at Adriana Lima inspired make up.  I think what makes her's look so good is that she has super bright blue eyes and lines the eyes heavily with black liner, so they really pop.  Unfortunately, I can't do that... so it doesn't really have the same affect.  lol  But!  It's a look inspired by her makeup, so there we go!

    According to my reference picture:

    Key Elements:
    • She's obviously pretty tan, so bronzer is a must.
    • The eyeshadow is pretty neutral, which the eyeliner is thick and black.
    • Doesn't look like she really wears anything on her lips other than a gloss.
    • If I was going to do this again, I would have smoked out the liner with my Sigma E30 brush.  But hindsight is 20/20!  lol

    Main colors I used:
    • MAC e/s in Brule (matte cream color)
    • MAC e/s in Carbon (dark matte black)
    • Urban Decay e/s in Buck (matte medium brown)
    • MAC e/l in Smoulder
    • Bobbi Brown e/s in Cement (a subtle shimmery taupe)
Brows are filled in with Bobbi Brown e/s in Mahogany (a matte dark brown).

On the cheeks, I used Stila Sun SPF 15 bronzer in Shade 01 and MAC blush in Gingerly.

On the lips, I used just chapstick with Stila Plumping Lip Glaze in Citrus Mint (I can really see the plumping effect here.... lol.  Wow!).

Side Note: My Sephora box is expected to get here in the beginning of January.  One of the prizes I want in my giveaway is in there, so we're just going to have to wait a few days even though I've got 101 subscribers!  I'm so excited!  I just want to be able to post a picture of the loot when I do the post about it!  :)

    Thanks for subscribing!

NOTD: China Glaze - Evening Seduction

Please take a minute to vote in my poll at the top of my page.  :)  Thanks!

    China Glaze - Evening Seduction

This looks black, but it is actually a VERY dark purple.  I think it is fantastic for New Years Eve.  For some reason, when I think NYE stuff, I think purple... lol  Not sure why.

This also applies very well!  This is two coats!  If I would have been more careful, I probably could have gotten away with just one.  Anyway, I absolutely love this color.  I also think it's very "Kardashian."  lol

Swatches: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics - Lip Tars

    Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas! I got a gift card to Sephora, so I have a box coming in the mail!  Christmas isn't over!  :)  Of course, I'll be sure to show yall!  I've also ordered something for the giveaway I'm going to have!

I'd love to know what beauty-related products you got for Christmas!  :)

    **********************************************

Anyway, I bought these OCC Lip Tars a while back, but I don't think I ever posted about them.  In case you're not familiar, lip tars are VERY dense lip gloss type things.  They are super opaque.  They come in a bunch of colors, including green, yellow, blue, black and white.  The idea is that you can mix them to create what ever color of lip gloss color you like.  Pretty neat!

I ordered these before they had expanded their color collection, but these colors I've swatched are still available as well as a bunch of others.  They are $12.50 USD for each tube.  You get .27 fl oz (8ml) a tube, which is a lot!  I wish they'd cut the price and the tube in half.  Lol!  It's more than I'll probably ever use.

Also!  SHIPPING is $7.50!  Even if you're only buying one tube!  That's pretty steep if you ask me, and probably another reason I haven't ordered more.

First of all, once they dry, THEY'RE ON!  You don't hardly need any product to cover your lips, so be very careful!  Also, I'd recommend a lip brush to smooth the edges of the gloss.  It's just too dense and too hard to clean up if you make a mistake.

This week it was the Tartan style top.  So, here's the outfit I made!

FOTD: Tarte - Purple Smokey Eye

This is a purple smokey eye look I created using the Tarte Jewelry Box.  You can check out my swatches here!

Using purple to create a dark smokey look can quickly get out of hand and start looking like a black eye!  I've avoided this (at least I hope! lol) by making sure underneath my eye was kept bright and clean.

I usually put dark shadow under my lower lashes when the lid is super dark, but that would probably make me look like I'd been in a fight!

I kept the dark shadow under my lower lashes close to the outer corner, and left the inner corner pretty clean.  I made sure to use extra concealer under the eye as well.  I actually even added a little matte white e/s and a matte skin colored e/s under my eye to help conceal (lol, yes, I used WHITE e/s to conceal.  I'm ghostly! lol).

    Anyway, that's enough blabbering!

    Main colors I used:

    • Tarte Jewelry Box -
      - A multicolored-shimmer, medium toned purple shade
      - A matte dark eggplant shade
      - A lighter lilac shade
      - A matte off-white shade
    • NYX e/s in White
    • MAC e/l in Smoulder
    • MUFE Aqua Eyes e/l in 0L (a regular black)
Brows are filled in using Bobbi Brown e/s in Mahogany.

Swatches: LORAC Multiplex 3D lip gloss - 3D

**Please note that I have a sample size version.  This isn't the full size!**

This is the LORAC Multiplex 3D lip gloss in the shade 3D.  Kind of confusing, but very wonderful!  I'd be interested in seeing the other lip glosses from this collection!

More information on this product can be found here.

These pictures don't do anything for this.  It's SUPER sparklie and shiny and pretty and wonderful!  :P

If you get a chance to see this in person, look for it!  It's worth it!  A very unique lip gloss to have in your collection!  Also, surprisingly not sticky or gritty (considering the sparkles!).  It has a very pleasant fruity kind of smell too!

Swatches: Tarte - The Jewelry Box

This is the Tarte Jewelry Box for this year.  :)  I've mentioned it in several of my previous posts!  You can find specific details about this product with the link here.  It retails for $52, however I got mine with a $15 giftcard and a 10% off coupon.  I think it was around $35 after that!  :)

Basically, it's 32 eyeshadows, 16 shimmery/16 matte.  Eight lip glosses, a bronzing powder, a highlighting powder, and 5 mini eye liner pencils (Oh!  And also a festive gold colored necklace that is detachable and wearable!).

I'd also like to inform you that none of the products had names included.  That makes it a little more difficult and inconvenient, but I'll do my best!

    On to the swatches!

The 16 shimmery colors are shown here.

NOTD: China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada

I do believe this came out with the Poolside Collection.  It took me 3 coats to get this.  It is kind of streaky.  It could have probably used a 4th coat I think.

Definitely don't think this looks good on me.  Haha!  It looks like monster nails I think.  I bought the Poolside Collection to do a skittle mani, but I never got around to it last summer.  There's always next!  :)

    China Glaze - Kiwi Cool-Ada

NOTD: China Glaze - Turned Up Turquoise (Neon)

This is my current nail color.  I was out today and got some compliments on it!  It's pretty poppin'!  It's nice for Christmas.  :)

It has kind of a semi-matte finish too.  It's a little strange.  But I guess it helps make it a little more wearable.  And in the shade, it looks like your nails glow.  lol!  Awesome!
