Once again, I'm being a terrible blogger!

My posting frequency leaves much to be desired these days.  Since I had to give up my make-up desk and space to work, I've just had no motivation to take pics/post blogs about the goings on on my face! :-P

Fortunately, the other day I took a picture (albeit crappy quality) when I got ready to go out! :)

Make up is simple and nothing to write home about.  I know for sure I'm wearing MAC l/s in Angel.  It's my fave!

The pièce de résistance of this picture is my hair! lol!  :)  I normally part my hair to the side, but lately I've  been trying a center part.  I think it's a nice change.  And I've discovered that it only looks weird to me.  Everyone else just said my hair looked really good, and some people didn't even notice it wasn't my typical part.  The old addage is true: you spend more time worrying what others think than they spend actually thinking it.

Either way, to get this hair, I washed it, blow dried it upside down (tends to be my yooj (usual... but shortened)) and put it in hot rollers.  I always start rollering my hair from the top front, which I roll away from my face.  Then I continue down the center of my head til I have a hot roller mohawk. lol!  Then I roll the sides (also away from my face - and also those rollers sit vertically on my head. One in front of my ear, one behind). Then I spray it all over with hairspray and leave the rollers in until they're cool. After the rollers come out, I spray it all again with hairspray.

And viola! A hairstyle humans go nuts over (Lol! Scuttle quote from The Little Mermaid!)!

This picture was taken toward the middle of June.  I've since cut about 2-3 inches off my hair, so I'm reminiscing today!

Have a great weekend!

Naked Palette #1: Bridal Makeup

A picture is from my own wedding in February 2012! :)

In my opinion, when you look back at your wedding pictures, they should be timeless.  Following some whacked out trend and being embarrassed about your wedding picture in 20 years doesn't sound fun to me.  Personally, I think I picked out a classic dress, did classic hair, and had classic makeup.

The following pictures aren't my exact makeup from the day (it was the trial I did a few weeks before my wedding day), but I did a similiar look, if not the exact same.

Main Products Used:
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Bobbi Brown e/s:
    - Mahogany (brows)
  • Naked Palette #1 e/s:
    - Virgin (all over)
    - Darkhorse (lid/wing - used scotch tape)
    - Naked (to blend darkhorse and virgin together)
  • MAC e/s:
    - Carbon (lash line)
    - Smolder Eye Kohl (water line)
  • NYX e/s:
    - Highlight (under eye)
  • L'Oreal Infallible liner in Black (lash line)
  • Buxom Lash Mascara
For the face makeup, I mixed some of my foundations, probably MUFE Mat Velvet+ and CoverGirl TruBlend. Flawless skin is important! I topped it off with my HG powder, Covergirl Clean Pressed Powder.

On the cheeks I have Smashbox blush/highlighter duo in AM/PM.

On the lips I have MAC l/s in Myth and Angel.

    Inspiration: NYX - Glitter Blue

    This look was done using:

NYX Glitter Cream Palette (the first 2 shades) in Ocean Breeze.

    Main Products Used:
    • MAC e/s in Carbon (lid and brows), Ambiance (crease) and Gorgeous (highlight)
    • NYX Glitter Cream Palette - Light blue glitter (Lid), medium blue (under eye)
    • MAC e/l in Smolder
    • NYX lashes in #118
    • Rhinestones

I still have no idea how you would go about NOT making this crease on the lid like this...  This look was packed with shadow and stuff to try and dry out the cream.  I would venture to say this would only last an hour or two without creasing.  :(

    NOTD: Striping Polishes

I recently posted that I had purchased some striping polishes from Sally Beauty Supply.

Here's a better look at them!

I think they were about $4 each.  I really wish I would have gotten a black too - oh don't worry, one day I will!  :-P

I was messing around with them the other night, so here's what I did!

If you have any pictures of your nails (or someone else's nails) with striping polish, feel free to link (or picture) in the comments!  I'd love to get some good ideas!

Inspiration: Dead (This was for a contest!)

Happy Friday everyone!  :)  Usually I post my DTB entries on my blog the same day I post them on the MakeupTalk website, but life has been busy!  So here it is anyway!

How creepy!  lol!  Anywhoo!  This was for a makeup contest on Makeuptalk.com.  I'm not just "into" zombies and death and such.

It was really fun to do anyway, so here's some pics for yall!

    Main Products Used:
    • NYX e/s in White (under eyes, highlight face, and eyes)
    • MAC e/s in Print (used on/under eyes and as a contour)
    • MAC pigment in Dark Soul (used for eye shadow)
    • Ardell Lashes in Gisele
On the lips I have Rimmel l/l in East End Snob (just around mouth).  I also have concealer on them and Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush l/g in Sugar High.

The fake blood is just honey and red food coloring.  Yes, it was gross to have a huge mouthful of honey... lol.

    ^^Not my best pic... lol

    Inspiration: Blue, Purple and Orange

Unless you can come up for a better name for this look, "Blue, Purple and Orange" it is!  lol

Sometimes my creativity is really lacking.  What I did was write "Lid - _____, Corner - ______, Crease x1 - _____, and Crease x2 - ______" on a piece of paper.

I reached into my drawer of BFTE minerals and grabbed one out.  The first one on my paper was lid, so the first color I pulled out went on my lid, and so on.

I have 2 crease colors for variety, plus, I didn't know what colors I'd get and I thought I'd be able to make a better look with two.  I think it worked out!

    Main Products Used:
    • BFTE minerals:
      Lid - Peacock (blue)
Corner - Whisper (white with blue shimmer)
      Crease x1 - Grape (purple)
      Crease x2 - Crush (orange)
In my haste, I forgot to write down what liner I used, but I'm pretty sure it's L'Oreal HIP cream liner in Black.

Anyway, this is probably not a color combo I would have thought up on my own.  :)

    Hope you enjoyed!

Inspiration: Naked Palette - Day to Night - Look #2

Above: My Day Look.  My closed eye shots did not turn out.  Also, this one FAINTLY shows the colors of the purple. I don't know why my camera does this sometime.  If you have the palette, you'll know what these colors look like in real life.

    Main Products Used:
    Day:

    • Urban Decay - Naked Palette:
      - Toasted (lid)
      - Hustle (outer V)
      - Naked (brow bone)
      - Buck (to fill in brows)
    • Urban Decay e/l in Zero (tightlined)
Night, add ON TOP of this look:
    • Urban Decay - Naked Palette:
      - Creep (large outer V - from the outer V tapering down to the inner corner - and under eye)
      - Hustle (mid section - vertically speaking - of lid)
      - Toasted (inner corner)
    • Urban Decay e/l in Zero (tightlined and lashline)

To make up for my lack of "Day Look" pictures, here's a few of the night look.  The purple is more obvious in these pictures but still not up to real-life standards.  The last picture of the closed eye shows the "large outer V tapering in" stuff I was trying to explain.  :)

This is a pretty quick switch.  But a little more complicated than my Look #1 post.

    Hope you like this!

Inspiration: Naked Palette - Day to Night - Look #1

     Above: The "Day" Look
    Main Products Used:
    Day:

    • Urban Decay - Naked Palette:
      - Sidecar (lid)
      - Buck (crease and under eye)
      - Virgin (brow bone and inner corner)
      - Darkhorse (top lash line)
      - Buck (to fill in brows)
    • Urban Decay e/l in Whiskey (tightlined)
Night, add ON TOP of this look:
    • Urban Decay - Naked Palette:
      - Darkhorse (all over lid)
      - Virgin (brow bone)
      - Creep (over liner)
    • Urban Decay e/l in Zero (tightlined and lashline)

My idea of "day makeup" and "evening makeup" is probably a little different than a lot of people.  I don't mind wearing a dark smokey eye in the afternoon, so this was my attempt to make soft looks.  :)  I have a more dramatic look coming!

My "Night Look" didn't photograph well.  But you can see that it's slightly darker and a little more dramatic.  It's a super quick switch from a clean and fresh look to a more smokey evening eye.  The whole switch probably took me about 30 seconds.  It'd be perfect for coming home from work, throwing on a dress, smoking up the eyes and going for dinner.  :)

    Hope you guys enjoyed!

Inspiration: Naked Palette - Gold and Brown

    Main Products Used:
    • Urban Decay - Naked Palette:
      - Half Baked (lid and under eye)
      - Smog (lower section of top lid)
      - Darkhorse (top and bottom lash lines)
      - Virgin (brow bone)
      - Naked (to fill in brow)
    • Urban Decay e/l in Whiskey
This is a nice dark brown smokey eye that "smokes" into gold (Half Baked).  Keeping with the original palettes that came with the double ended liners, I used Whiskey to tightline.  Also, to stay completely within the palette, the brows are filled with Naked
